Asbestos Surveys and Asbestos Identification
Management Asbestos Surveys
Refurbishment or Demolition Asbestos Survey
This asbestos survey is intrusive and involves destructive inspection to gain access to all areas, including those that may be difficult to reach. For this purpose the survey can only be undertaken when the building is unoccupied.
The asbestos surveys usually involve sampling and analysis of samples by NATA accredited laboratory to confirm the presence or absence of ACMs. However, it can also involve just presuming the presence or absence of asbestos without sampling or a combination of sampling ACMs and presuming ACMs. The management asbestos surveys usually involve minor intrusive work and some disturbance.
Information collected during the asbestos survey which will be used in a qualitative risk assessment and reported in the asbestos survey report and included in the Asbestos Register:
- Asbestos product type
- Location of the material
- Extent (or quantity) of the material
- Asbestos type
- Accessibility and/or vulnerability of the material
- Amount of damage or deterioration
- Surface treatment (if any)
Where required by the client we extend the scope of the survey and assessment to cover some or all hazardous building materials including lead based paint and lead dust in ceiling and on surfaces, synthetic mineral fibre (SMF), Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCBs) in Capacitors and ozone depleting substances.
